If you could suggest donating to an organization that really helped people during this very hard time, who would it be?
Natasha: We have a disaster fund set up here. It helped get some people into a motel, trailer, or camper. But my suggestion is God’s Pit Crew.
Jennifer: God’s Pit Crew, stationed in Virginia, is out on the ground all the time. Not only do they build homes, they give out disaster relief buckets. Their buckets have cleaning supplies like gloves, face masks, a roll of shop towels, and a Bible. They also do a family one that has cartoons on the outside of the bucket so the kids can decorate the buckets.
Natasha: Every member of our church was given a bucket.
Jennifer: A small organization tied to God’s Pit Crew is Just The Crumbs. They feed God’s Pit Crew every time they go out.
Jacob: A couple of months ago, God’s Pit Crew came in to help build a home for a family.
Jennifer: Just The Crumbs were spread thin at that time due to some other storms, so our church fed the Crew for the 3 weeks they were here. The gentleman who oversees it is in his eighties. He drove all the way here from Alabama by himself to serve and feed people for a week. His son came up the day after Helene hit. He’s been rebuilding in the Lake Lure/Bill’s Creek area almost nonstop, only going home for a few days twice since.
